Coriander originally comes from the Near East and subsequently spread throughout the Mediterranean and Southern Europe. The plant contains various essential oils, which give it its distinctive taste and scent. In addition to being used in cooking, coriander was primarily used to support the stomach and digestion in ancient Asian cultures.
