Certificate under Regulation (EO) No. 834/2007 of the European Union
European law relevant to organic production:
In 2007, the European Council of Ministers of Agriculture agreed on a new Regulation (EC) No. 834/2007 to determine the principles, objectives and general rules for organic production and to determine the way organic products should be labeled.
The regulation set a new course for the development of organic farming additionally, with the following objectives:
– sustainable cultivation systems
– a variety of high quality products.
– great emphasis on environmental protection
– more attention to biodiversity
– high standards of animal protection
– consumer confidence
– protecting the interests of users.
Organic production respects natural systems and cycles. Biological and mechanical production processes and land-based production must be used to achieve sustainability without resorting to genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
In organic farming, closed cycles that use internal resources and raw materials are preferred over open cycles based on external resources. If the latter are used, they should use:
– organic materials from other organic farms
– natural substances
– materials obtained naturally, or
– mineral fertilizers with low solubility.
Exceptionally, however, synthetic resources and feedstocks may be eligible if there are no suitable alternatives. Such products, which must be checked by the control authorities before production authorization, are listed in the annexes to the implementing regulation (Regulation (EC) No. 889/2008).
Labeling organic products
Products can only be labeled “organic” if at least 95% of their agricultural ingredients meet the required standards. In non-organic products, ingredients that meet organic production standards can be labeled as organic. To ensure user confidence, the code number must be provided to the certification body.
Organic production prohibits the use of genetically modified organisms in derived products. However, the regulation on genetically modified food and feed sets a threshold (0.9%) at which the GMO content of a product does not have to be indicated. Products with GMO content below this threshold can be defined as organic.
From 1 July 2010, manufacturers of packaged organic products are required by EU law to use the EU organic logo. This is not a mandatory requirement for organic products from countries outside the EU. Where the EU organic logo is used, the location where all farmed ingredients were produced must be indicated.

Certification for natural products and cleaning products allows them to be commercialized worldwide.
Certification for natural cleaning products guarantees:
– ecologically clean production and processing processes
-encouraging the use of natural or organic ingredients
– responsible management of natural resources
-prohibition of most petrochemical ingredients
Certification by an independent certification body such as Ecocert allows the mention of “Natural Detergent” to be displayed on the label.

Emphasis on all natural ingredients:
-Maximum 5% synthetic ingredients in the restricted list
-No environmental risk statement is allowed on the product
For natural product labels and cleaning products that are made with organic ingredients:
At least 95% of the ingredients are of natural origin
At least 10% of the ingredients are organic
No risk statement is allowed on the product.
The certification for natural products and cleaning products is intended for manufacturers of raw materials, manufacturers of health and home care brands.
Natural and organic cosmetics
Ecocert is the first certification agency that developed the standards for “natural and organic cosmetics”.
Introduced in 2003, the standards specification was developed with the cooperation of all stakeholders along the chain – experts, suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, users and development organizations. Currently, Ecocert supports and guides the certification processes in more than 1000 companies.
Basic principles of the Ecocert standard – in order to ensure a more ecologically clean cosmetic product, the Ecocert standard defines:
1. The use of ingredients obtained from renewable sources produced through environmentally friendly processes.
Ecocert therefore checks strictly for the presence of: GMOs, parabens, phenoxyethanol, nanoparticles, silicon, PEG, synthetic fragrances and colors, ingredients of animal origin (unless it is naturally produced from them: milk, honey, etc.). Biodegradable or recyclable packaging quality.
2. The presence of a minimum threshold of natural ingredients from organic farming to achieve certification:
For both labels, the Ecocert Standard stipulates that no less than 95% of all ingredients are of natural origin.
For the “natural and organic cosmetic product” label: logo – bio-cosmetics
A minimum of 95% of all plant ingredients in the formula and at least 10% of all ingredients by weight must be derived from organic farming.
For “natural cosmetics” label
A minimum of 50% of all plant ingredients in the formula and at least 5% of all ingredients by weight must be derived from organic farming.
Some ingredients very common in cosmetics (water, salts, minerals) cannot be certified as organic because they are not of agricultural origin. For example, shampoos and some creams, mostly composed of water, contain between 10% and 40% organic ingredients and always 95% natural ingredients.
3. On-site inspections are carried out by an Ecocert auditor.
The organic seal according to the EU Organic Regulation ensures that our raw materials comply in all respects with the requirements of the legal regulations for organic farming.
This also means that the origin of our raw materials as well as our manufacturing facility are strictly controlled on a regular basis. This seal symbolizes quality and safety in harmony with nature.
